Every score, error and recommendation below was produced by the same evaluation that runs on a paying customer's essay — we wrote the response, submitted it, and published whatever came back. It scored 3/5. Open the cards, follow the lesson links; it all works.

Score 3/5
Content & Relevance 4/5
Strengths: Directly addresses the professor's question with a clear position; Engages with Ahmed's point about academic momentum; Uses a personal example (sister's experience) to support the argument
To improve: Could engage more with Yuki's perspective to build a richer discussion; The final paragraph shifts to a broader policy point that goes slightly beyond the prompt's focus on student benefits
Development 3/5
Strengths: The personal example of the sister is specific and relevant; Shows a clear cause-and-effect reasoning: gap year → self-discovery → better academic performance
To improve: The example could be elaborated with more detail about how the gap year specifically contributed to the sister's growth; The final claim that gap year students 'will study harder' needs more support or explanation
Language Use 2/5
Strengths: The opening sentence shows an attempt at polite, formal register; The overall meaning is generally understandable despite errors
To improve: Frequent article omissions throughout the essay; Several word order and sentence structure issues that occasionally obscure meaning; Some subject-verb agreement errors
Feedback Summary

This is a thoughtful response that takes a clear position and supports it with a personal example — a great foundation for an Academic Discussion post. The essay engages meaningfully with Ahmed's concern about academic momentum and offers a compelling counterargument through the sister's story. The main area to work on is language accuracy: article usage, word order, and subject-verb agreement errors appear frequently and occasionally make the meaning harder to follow. With continued practice on these grammar patterns, the clarity of your ideas will match the strength of your argument.

**Professor Williams:** Taking a gap year between high school and university has become an increasingly popular choice. Some educators support this practice, while others worry about its potential drawbacks. Do you think students benefit from taking a gap year before starting university? Why or why not? **Student A (Yuki):** A gap year can be extremely valuable. Students gain real-world experience through travel, volunteering, or work. This helps them enter university with more maturity and a clearer sense of what they want to study. Many students who take gap years actually perform better academically. **Student B (Ahmed):** I think gap years are risky. Students can lose their academic momentum and study habits. Some never end up going to university at all. It's better to start university right away and pursue travel or work experience during summer breaks or after graduation. Contribute to the discussion by expressing and supporting your opinion.

I would like to respectfully express my humble opinion about this important question. In my thinking, gap year can be very helpful for student, but only when it is planned carefully. Ahmed mentioned that students lose their academic momentum, and I partly agree with this point. However, I believe that the maturity which is gained during gap year is more valuable than the momentum. My older sister, after high school she worked at small design studio in Seoul for one year. Before that time she wanted to study economics only because our parents recommended, but through this experience was discovered her real interest, and now she studies design and is very happy. Therefore, the gap year students should be accepted by universities more widely, because a student who knows the reason of studying will study harder than a student who just follow the schedule.
